Default 1948 lifter blocks

would anyone know if 1948 lifter blocks will work on a 1959 FL ? i have a set of JIMS solid lifters .010 and would like to have them fit to the 48 blocks. would i have to block the oil holes ? or would the gasket and lifter blocks block them off ??? any thoughts would be appreciated.

The lifter blocks wiil fit. You do not need to plug the holes. I have converted many hydraulic lifters to solids without pluging the holes. If you want to reduce the oil flow, the holes in the blocks can be tapped and a set screw installed in the hole, but it is not needed. Good luck with it.

I wouldn't use 48 blocks as they are Aluminum and more than likley have already seen there better days. New blocks can be had cheaper than you can sell those rare ones for on E-Bay. Yep new guy here, just found this place and it looks real comfortable.

wreck, you can use them and do not need to plug the holes as mentioned. As far as the aluminum blocks being a bad idea IMHO I would offer another thought....got 20 years out of my original aluminum blocks before it was necessary to go to oversize lifters.

One last thought...some guys on another forum have mentioned problems w/ jims lifters (think it was hydra-glide.net). Don't remember the exact issues but you might want to research it before you do the install.
