Default new lifter design

just picked up a new set of lifters to replace mine that had one lifter pit in a couple of places.
the new stock hd lifter has the oil hole directly behind the flat now instead of 90 degrees to the flat. the new hole is now pointed on a downward angle about 45 degrees to the long side of the lifter.
the old version you pointed the hole to the inside of the motor or towards the crank. no instructions with them, Im guessing with the new hole position you point it directly at the oil hole in the lifter port now.
any one swap from old style to new yet

If there's a flat milled into the lifter it will only go in one way like the Woods?

Are you referring to the latest issue lifter from HD? If so they replaced the 'B' lifter with the 'C' (made in Mexico I believe but not 100% sure).

Default can only see a picture of woods lifter one side

looked at a picture of the woods lifter on their web site and i can only see the one side the oil hole is on. by the description will only go one way would mean to me there is only one flat on their lifter and its the side the flat is milled into the lifter. the newer harley lifter has a flat on both sides opposite each other but the hole is now directly under one of the flats
gonna be a few hours before i start putting it back together will wait and see what replies come up.

OK I'm with you now-- If you have 2 options which way to insert-- it would seem to make sense to install the lifter oil hole on the lowest side of the lifter hole to ensure the lifter oil hole was always submerged in oil.

I read a thread here a while back that as you say suggested the old style lifter hole was pointed to the inside of the engine case but that has changed.

Suggest you wait for consensus before installing. C'mon people----

Default aimed hole at oil outlet in lifter bore

put the lifter in with the oil hole facing the oil hole inside the engine casing the rear cylinder has oil hole facing the rear of bike which lines it up with the oil supply hole in engine case put front lifter in facing front of bike which puts the hole in front of the supply hole in engine casing

Made in Mexico, huh? Well, at least that's a step up from the Chinese junk they've been putting on these bikes!
