Dont run the belt too tight, esp if primary is enclosed.Completely loosen final chain drive, loosen all tranny attach hardware, dont forget the one by itself below kicker cover. The single bolt jam nuts need loosened on tranny adjuster.Loosen adjuster, this may or may not move tranny back.If not loose enough to physically move tranny aft by hand or light prying.Remember that tranny may **** somewhat and throw primary and final drive alignment off.Check with straight edge once desired primary tightness is reached,Snug tranny down and recheck.Once your happy tighten tranny down, tighten adjuster jam nut if there. Now tighten and align rear chain.Sometime this takes awhile and an extra set of hands may help.

Disconnect linkage to trans also and adjust after desired tension on belt.
