Default 1948 FL Pan

Can any of you guys give me a rough estimate of what the true value of this bike would be?

Its suppose to be 95% original.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Got a call on one (looking for a knuckle.. guess they don't get it lol) priced at 25 thou. Motor wrapped in celo completely redone, bike in partial reassemble. That was off B.C Coast. 98% stock. Over priced... jmo

Not even close! Bitsa bike...bit of this, bit of that lot of aftermarket parts from a quick look. It might be, just maybe, or not even close to 45% OEM.

Want/need to see an almost correct 48 should look like....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ORIGI...item1c250d8efe

And price wise it is obviously worth what one is willing to spend and the buyer will accept payment for. If the numbers are good it will be a nice rider. Value????? 7-10 large (max at least in my books).

Yeah, bitsa. a sign of a put-together bike is alot of chrome- chrome wasn't used as much from the factory and many of the bright parts were stainless steel ( like the pans on my '53 FLF, air cleaner, fender trim, saddlebag mounts).

All the chrome bits are probably from Vtwin cycle ( "Taiwan Tedd") who make repro parts that do fit with some grinding, hammering and pushing

here's pics of my '53 FLF- the Green one is factory paint. the root beer and creme in the first pic is a bitsa '53 FL, it sold for $9500 some years ago.

Original bikes are 50ish K.

alot of the same bikes cycle around on ebay over and over waiting for that one guy who won the lottery and needs his birth year bike ( anyone turning 60 next year ???)

Default Value

We all know that value is what a willing buyer is willing to pay and a willing seller is willing to sell That being said, what about a bike that has mostly OEM parts but from different years. Say a rigid frame, with a later motor and front end. Not aftermarket parts but not matching serial numbers etc. When you look at the price of even replica frames etc it makes your head hurt. Would $20k be reasonable for say 40s-50's 95% original part bike?

FL54..a 95% "original" part bike can easily go for the low 20s. That is still different from a bike assemebled using OEM parts of "different" years. A bike can only be "original" once, and once someone starts taking stuff off, chroming stuff that should not be chromed, repainting because the old paint was starting to fade, chip..whatever, the value goes down.

Restorations done "correctly are often more costly than keeping the bike in its "original" condition. The AMCA has judging for "original" and "restored" condition bikes...two sepaerate judging classes.

With that being said, a bike assembled from different years will always be worth considerly less than a one put togeteher with parts for the correct year and model.

For me 20s is not a reasonable price for what you describe because it is in a snese a "bitsa" bike just not one assembled using Tawain Ted $hit. 10-12 is probably a more realistic price.
