Bud, thanks for the pm regarding the gas shutoff. I'm hoping to check it all out this weekend.

For the shut-off rod you might consider Carls Cycle Supply. They are now making one that has a "Peek" tip to it. Peek seals for carb plumber-style manifolds are definitely a step up from the brass seals and work extremely well.

Thanks Panz4ever. I'll keep that in mind. Seeing their webpage, my mouth waters seeing all those pans and knuckles! I'm hoping to ride down to SD this summer just to visit their shop.
I'm planning on getting everything in top running order, picking up some stock pieces it is missing and then tearing it all down in the fall and restoring it over the winter. I've got 5 gal. bobs on it right now but the bike came with the stock 3.5 gal. tanks with the gas shutoff on the tanks. I've got the shutoff apart now. It also came with an aftermarket shutoff but I haven't had the chance to see how close to stock it is or if the stock **** will work with it. The stock pieces on top of the tank are all aluminum I believe. The aftermarket shutoff piece is brass. Not sure if the pieces are interchangable so I can use the stock *****. Hope to check it out this weekend. If not, you think Carl's Cycle will have what I need?
A couple years ago I was in Anamosa, IA and stopped by the Motorcycle Museum. It has since moved to a larger space. They have an incredible no. of cool motorcycles there.
