Good looking scooter. No real way of telling what year engine, frame, tranny from the pics. Some of the chops had such a mish-mash of parts they were related to that old Johnny Cash song. Engine is a Panhead (1948-1965), but probably an earlier model, but I'm only guessing that because of the wishbone frame (1948-mid-1954). Could be an early frame/later motor; no way of telling from athe pic. The frame has been raked and fairly heavily, but still cleanly, molded. Obvious girder front end, but hard to tell what make. I saw Durfee suggested and it could be; only thing that makes me wonder are what look like unequal length links. The Durfee I had came with equal length links, but I don't know if all of them did. I do know it's not a P&P or Fury; P&P had links inside the rails, and Fury had 2 springs & shocks. Tank is a high tunnel, not Frisco'd. Frisco'd meant the tank has a low tunnel and sets up high on the backbone. Tank almost looks like a so-called "King" Sportster to my old eyes - it looks "fatter" than the stock Sporty style.

Just discovered some additional pix....There all were in an old 35mm slide tray....I had to shine them on the wall and snap them with a digital camera....I'm having them all converted to digital next week for higher resolution....Hope these help.

very cool and just what was around in the NYC / jersey area back then -- BTW the pictures are flopped they the negatives are backwards when you convert them turn them around ---- i had the same front wheel on mine 16 inch, i was almost killed one night coming over the verazano bridge in a wind storm, the bridge opened up as it expanded and if i had not been going 70 plus the wheel would have fallen into the grates -- johnjzjz

Good call John....Didn't even realize it!

It's ironic that the owner of this bike is named John Z. I used to call him JZ. The pix were taken in Bergenfield NJ. I'm sure this scoot went over the Verazano more than a few times!
