Default Help Identify - Chopper - Panhead?

Hey All....I'm trying to identify this and am not sure where to post it.

I recently came across this pic in a box of old Kodak slides. It was taken in the driveway of my old house between '70 and '72. That's my sisters ex boyfriend to the right (the owner), and my brother sitting on the driveway. I was about 6 at the time and this bike is where my love motorcycles comes from.

I want to build a tribute and need to know exactly what it is. Year, frame, suspension, front end, tank, engine, trans, etc.

Any help would be a solid.

Thanks.

I do believe the front end is a Durfee Girder:

Nice looking bike! I had a "hump seat" like that on my panhead. Really comfortable.

It looks like a pan from this side and if it's that old, it's a 4 speed transmission. And it looks a standard rigid frame. What year is anyone's guess.

Thanks Slim....What kind and what year oem frame (if you can guess)?....And what is "friscoed"?

And you are correct....Nice Bike! I used to hear that thing coming from BLOCKS away and would to run out to the driveway just to see it pull up....He used to give me rides as a 5 or 6 year old kid, and that is what fostered my love of two wheels. My parents moved us out to suburban central jersey (which in the early 70's was all farmland), and my dad bought me my first scoot (and go-cart) at 7 years old. Been riding ever since!

You can do a tribute without having the exact year components. Panhead motors had only
minor evolutionary changes over the years, and most of them are internal or visible from the other (right) side of the motor. The frame looks like it was stretched a bit and cleaned up, but there are aftermarket frames that would have this already done. Horseshoe oil tank, stepped seat, sissy bar, and girder front-end are all pretty common.
Though every motorcycle is special, there is nothing overly exotic about this, just an assembly of relatively obtainable components.

a tribute bike would be easy enough to do . here's a couple of places to look for parts if you're into building it yourself .

http://www.dragspecialties.com/catalogs/
http://www.customchrome.com/dcm/cc/index.asp
http://www.jpcycles.com/motorcycle-parts

or you can find a local custom builder , there's nothing radical about this build so it shouldn't be too expensive .

either way the panhead motor will be your biggest $$$ part .
