Default Pinkerton main jet

I just replaced the float and needle and seat in my type M Linkert. This may be a dumb question but is the main jet supposed to protrude up into the Venturi or does it remain in the well below the level of the Venturi?
Thanks in advance.

plus one on the jet 1/2 way into carb opening than the spring, the bowl than the washer for the bowl and the bowl nut holds it all up in place = the direction of the main has no set it this way as long as its all the way in --

If the venturi is not tight in place, if not it will give you an issue tuning sometimes // they are very forgiving But to a point -- jz
