Default Prep for plastic

Im looking at spraying my plastic splash guard.

What prep should I do? Sand? Bulldog adhesive? Prime?

Thanks, if I could get some specifics

Before you sand you want to use a good wax and silicone remover. A couple examples are SEM soap or Lord Fusor products. House of Color makes one and most hardware stores carry something decent.

1. Wax & silicone remover
2. Scuff with 600 or 800
3. Adhesion promoter
4. Epoxy Primer
5. Base coat
6. Clear coat

Hullhorr hit it spot on...plastics can be a b#*#h...once you've cleaned it and sanded it run some clean water over it, if it beads up you need to repeat the process until it sheets off...you know you've got it ready for adhesion promoter then.

Is the splash guard already painted a different color? or is it bare plastic?

I would also use a flex agent in the paint too so it won't chip so easy. Plastic can move where metal will not. Just like a plastic bumper on cars today
