Some of you may have ran across another thread where I was searching for a painter. As luck would turn out, while on temporary duty and away from my home in NC I found a guy 5 minutes down the road who I must say, is an AMAZING painter. And...his price was certainly right. He took my inner fairing and matched it perfectly to the factory paint...check it out. I'm very pleased with his work and the overall progress of the bike.
Thanks guys. It really just made it all come together. Particularly having the Wild 1 bars and chrome/stainless additions with the new chrome fairing mirrors. My wife loves it, added bonus, but we think alike so I rarely if ever hit bumps in the road when it comes to the bike and my projects.
I rode it into town and parked next to a guy who just bought a new BBP SG. He said he loved his bike until it was parked next to mine. That's about the greatest compliment I could have asked for!
You won't regret it. I've seen some RG's with their inners done and it looks great as well. Can't speak toward the inner removal on a RG but the street glide is pretty straight forward if you've had the outter off and seen your way around in there. I took some of it down in about 30 minutes the night before and had the rest finished within a couple hours the next day. I hear the dealership charges 4 hours of labor for the job.
If you want some great painting I would highly recommend the guy that did mine.
His website is www.jimperrycustoms.com
He is a standup guy who takes a lot of pride in his work.
What did it set you back? I have the same bike and have been looking to do the same. Liked the work!
Jim charges $260 to paint an inner fairing and switch cap. That is for most colors. There is an upcharge on certain pearl and sun-glo colors. I think the Big Blue Pearl is considered one of the more expensive colors. Anyway, he paints for the local dealership, and they have nothing but good things to say about him. I work with him, and I learn new stuff everyday....he has been painting bikes his whole life, and the stuff he just knows is amazing. He matches some very tricky colors all the time.
You can certainly find someone cheaper, but you won't find anyone better. Jim is **** about quality, that's why he doesn't have many people work for him. It has to be right, or he'll send you down the street.
