On my old bike I used wrinkle black BBQ paint to touch up the motor, didn't heat it, just cleaned real well with laquer thinner amd painted, worked well. I imagine you could use hi temp engine block paint as well. I think the trick is cleaning well
i have painted and powder coated several motors... paint will chip and require touch up... never painted a HD motor but i have done a ton of metrics... it is all in the prep work to be honest that has to be clean! then we will bake the painted motor at like 150 for 30 min or so before install... here are some motors i have painted
thing is with paint you have to constantly touch it up... if you ever spill gas on it, plan on pulling the motor to repaint... powder you do not have to worry about that... here are just a few samples of both we have done... we actually have a forum members jugs, heads, and cases in the shop now all going black cherry then we are shipping them to Co, to have the jugs and heads diamand cut.. gonna be sick!!
I just got done with mine. Masking took awhile. I used VHT Engine Primer & VHT Motorsport Case Paint satin black. The paint is supposed to be chemical resistant. I used a heat gun to help with the curing. I'll see how they hold up once installed.

Black cherry on his whole motor, cases, jugs, heads... with diamond cut... should be insane!
