Default Powder coating over chrome

I have an old set of fork mounted air deflectors I'm going to modify to fit my SG. I want to powder coat them black when I finish but I'm not sure how to prep chrome for the pc. I have a media blaster at work I can use and was thinking of trying that. Any suggestions?

I coated some old chrome fenders a few years back. Just took some 320 grit and scuffed the chrome real good. Made to to degrease real well and the powder coat stuck well.

scuff with sandpaper or blast. Chrome is tough, most that I have blasted has put a very minimal profile on it.

If you blast anything (especially aluminum) do not use glass beads. glass beads will embed into the part and when it goes into the oven for the cure cycle the glass can bubble out. You can always scuff them up real good with a scotch brite pad.

I use 70 grit medium in my cabinet....I have no issues.although I'm told you can scuff chrome with a red scotch brite pad with good results.however, its been my experience that the chrome you get nowadays isn't all that great and can flake off or start peeling.I blast my parts down to the metal. I've done my horn cover, air filter cover, headlight trim ring and bezel, shift lever and starter end cover.I think the trick is to get your parts clean and free of any grease, oil and or wax. After I blast the parts,I wash mine in dawn dish liquid, rinse thoroughly and put in a preheated oven to draw out any residual oils and repeat the wash and rinse and allow to dry thoroughly before spraying the powder.I confiscated an old toaster oven for the small parts and bought a used standard cook stove for 25$ for the bigger items.A word of caution: ONCE YOU USE AN OVEN FOR POWDER COATING,YOU CANNOT EVER USE IT FOR FOOD AGAIN.
