Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
I have a 2008 Dyna Street Bob. I am having problems down shifting into 1st, neutral and 2nd. I have adjusted the clutch and it worked fine for a couple miles but limped back home unable to shift into the lower gears mentioned above.
I backed off the adjuster bolt about 5/8 of a turn. The fluid is due to be changed, have not done it yet. The fluid has about 5,500 miles on it.
I am considering changing out the clutch plates but I would like to know if the symptoms listed above indicate a need to change them out.
Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
If it's only happening in 1st-2nd my guess would be a bent shift fork or fork rod. Double check the disengagement on the clutch as well, you want at least .070. That being said I don't think it's a clutch issue if it shifts through the rest of the gears fine.
