Default Transmission clunk on clutch release

I know HD's shake, rattle and roll, but I'm hearing and feeling something I don't think I heard before. When I release the clutch after an up shift, I'm sometimes hearing and feeling a clunk. Not as loud but similar to the usual first gear clunk. I can also make it happen in gear by abruptly going on and off throttle. Sounds like it's coming from the tranny, but it's hard to tell when underway.

Could a loose belt make it clunk? Bike is a '16 Road Glide Special with just about 3k miles. Thanks.

Check primary chain tension. A loose primary can give those symptoms.
