about to buy a used HD, which seems to have a 1450cc six speed engine.
I thought the six speed came with a 1584cc engine, please explain.
Was the six speed originally added to the existing 1450 before the launch of the new engine, or is this just a typo?
If this is a genuine six speed 1450, does that give any advantages over the new engine due to no restriction for emmisions etc? My existing 1450 Deluxe does seem to need an extra gear on the highway, maybe this is the answer in a 1450 six speed.
However if this was an 'inbetween' move from HD is it best avoided?
Finally if I go for a big bore upgrade to this engine, have I then got the best of both worlds??
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN, I AM TOTALLY CONFUSED!
You didn't mention what year or what model bike your looking at which would certainly help knowing that. All '06 Dyna's came with 1450cc engine and the 6 speed which was introduced in '06 in the Dyna line. Screamin' Eagle 6 speed conversions are alsoavailable from Harley.
If its a 06 streetglide it came with a 1450 and a 5 speed. The previous owner could have installed a 6 speed. It did not come with it. Unless its an early 07, but then it would have96ci and 6 speed..
