What is the best way to get at and remove the small shaft oil seal from the trans output shaft..I know bearing race has to be removed--- no problem.. But from there it looks like removing the seal between the 2 shafts might be a bugger. Any suggestions????? Thanks dudes...2008 classic 103ci 6speed....

Make a seal hook. This is one for the shift shaft seal. I use after hooking the seal, grab it with a pair of vise grips, tap the vise grips with a small hammer. All it takes is a propane torch to heat the end of screwdriver and use a small hammer to bend the end over. Finish with a grinder and sandpaper.

A Harley transmission doesn't have an output shaft.
Tap seal with 1/4" flat blade screwdriver, rotating the seal till a lip rises and you can then peal seal away from main drive gear. It sounds aggressive but really isn't as long as you are careful.

Yes and no, the output drive gear is on the input shaft but is in reality held into the transmission case itself. So in reality the input shaft can also be called the output shaft as well. So The thread starter was likely referring to the small oil seal around the input shaft inside of the output drive gear.
Thanks for all the input guys. I did get that seal out. I made me a little hook Out of an old screwdriver, it worked great. Once again came out like butter. Thanks for the knowledge guys because acquiring knowledge is power.....
The power from the engine goes into the transmission via the mainshaft, it comes out via the main drive gear.
I do not always have the correct term for different parts. SORRY, I AM LEARNING AS I GO.........thanks for the correction. I will try and remember this......
