Default 2005 ElectraGlide - took too much primary fluid

First time Harley owner and new to forums. Hopefully I'm in the right place for my question.

Serviced my 88 before winter. I have the owners and mechanic manual. All say primary takes 32oz, as does threads on this forum. The manual also says "don't fill past the bottom of inspection cover". I interpreted this to mean 'about 32oz, until reaches the clutch inspection cover.' So I kept pouring another half a quart, and still fluid never reached inspection cover. Did I screw this up? If yes, should I drain completely and refill with just the 32oz, or is extra half quart fine? Clutch and trans feels great, better than before the fluid change.

Thx,
Will

put what the service manual says or a little less. do not over fill. you could always leave it the half quart over and find out what happens.

Ya, you're telling me what i need to hear, and what is kind of obvious. But I'm lazy. I guess common sense needs to prevail. Thx for the response.

Forget about how many ounces, wet, dry whatever, just fill the primary to the proper level.

If you overfilled it, just pull the plug and let some drain out.

Here is the proper level for primary lube, bike standing up straight (this is the correct level for all big twin primaries since mid 1984). It won`t hurt a thing if it is a little low.

Fill to the bottom of the clutch basket. Don't go by a particular amount, you need to actually look down inside the primary cover and verify the level. Maybe it feels ok now but once it gets warm you'll probably find that the clutch is dragging and that'll make it hard to find neutral. Bottom of the derby cover hole is way too much oil.

I just put what the manual says and don't worry unless I think it is gaining or losing.

Dump it in and note where at. Complete replacement takes a little more, if you had cover off.

Becareful listening to people. The primary capacity varies different years.
