Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
Hey guys, so a few months ago I picked up a 94 Dyna Convertible with an S&S V124 motor in it.
Just have a few questions for folks who may have a lot more experience than I do. When I picked it up I found that one of the transmission mounting points on the left side had been sheared off. So Ive replaced the transmission case with a fresh one. I have a Carlini Torque Arm for the right side of the bike.
My main question is, is there anything else I can do to brace the drivetrain to prevent the new transmission case from breaking a second time?
Also Id like to run mid controls on the bike and I know that the torque arm wont clear the brake pedal, any idea if there was ever a brace produced that will work with mids or am I going to have to clearance this one myself?
Thanks in advance guys. Ill throw a picture of the broken case in there just for reference.
The unmodified Carlini torque arm clears the peg and brake pedal no problem on my '98 Super Glide, FWIW found the arm used on FB Marketplace. BTW a bolt on exhaust bracket is part of it, make sure that isn't missing.
Besides Carlini, try to find a stiffer primary case.. The one to get used to be Delkron but I don't know if they had the cut for mid controls. Another thing that I would do is recut the bolt seats in the primary flat and use shouldered bolts in those holes..
