It is always in gear. When i pull in the clutch, i cant move it or if I try to start it in gear, it lunges forward.

Did you adjust the clutch? I know someone asked this already, but I don't think I saw your answer? If you adjust your cable adjusters for plenty of slack, do the clutch adjustment, loosen nut, turn center adjuster to you feel it touch, back off 1/2 to 1 full turn based on your "gray" clutch area you prefer, pull the clutch lever once or twice, adjust cable adjust for 1/16 to 1/8" space at the ferrule (where the cable hits the handle) and you may need to pull back on the cable to see how much slack you truly have at the ferrule to handle. It really should be that easy. Too long a cable would have done nothing as even 2" over, I don't think there is that much adjustment in the cable adjusters.

If you have done the clutch adjustment, then it must be on the install somewhere or an act of the Harley Gremlins that just is coinciding with your install.

Have you rocked the bike forward and backward and trying to find neutral without the clutch, not too awful bad in this case to at least see if you can click it int neutral. It will not hurt it to do this but you MUST rock the bike forward to take the pressure off everything.

Check this link:

https://www.hdforums.com/m_70839/tm.htm

I used it and it worked great.

One last question, did you compare the two cables (original and new) side by side? Did you ensure that the travel length is the same? This is what is important...extra length elsewhere is not a problem...the travel length is the real issue...

If the instructions in the link I gave you don't work, lay the two side by side and see what the difference in travel length is...

Pics might help too...

We'll get you through this...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think your clutch is always DISengaged...

I have adjusted, un-adjusted, put the bike in first gear, taken it back to neutral, checked, double checked and some other check with the service manual. Nothing appears to be out of the norm. So... since i have been having so much fun with this situation as of late, one of the mechanics stopped by and took a look at it on his way home. His conclusion, something internal is F***** Up. We went thru the adjustment process again, removed the cover and checked the linkage. He said that everything looks just like it should and it should be just that easy. Anyway, they are coming to get it tomorrow to find out what is wrong.
