Well, ran the 30 tooth engine sprocket for 2k miles, first 1000 was around town and boy, was it nice. Second thousand was on my way to Texas, and boy did I miss the old gearing not to mention that it just is just a tad "buzzy" compared to the compensator assembly. I stopped at a HD dealer and went to work in their back lot and removed the 30 and reinstalled the 34 compensator.
Bottom line is I think these are most likely fine for the stock engines and slightly modified, but for the long stroke engines, the compensator is needed IMO. Not to mention that going back to stock I picked up a few mpg. If I was strictly an around town type of rider, it would still be in there.

As I said, if I was a 500 mile or less type of rider it would still be in there as it really does add to the performance of the bikes and in town rideability. I have three more trips planned yet this year of 1500, 900 and 800 miles so am going to stay with the stock setup until someone comes out with a compensated 32 tooth sprocket. I think the 30 is great, but the 32 might be a better "compromise" between performance and low rpm long distance riding.
Dalton: I've sat on the fence with the 30 tooth, mainly for lack of ids for softails. Your experiences with the 30 tooth, pretty much are what I'd more or less expected. Now that I've modded the stockcomp, all my previous **** offs with it are no longer present. As with you, I was reluctant to lose that gearing on longer trips. Yes, the 32 tooth compwould probably be the perfect compromise between the two, but don't see it happening any time soon.[:@] Thanks for the honest report on your testing, and observations. Ron
Dalton,Evo Indrustries has a 49T clutch sprocket & chain that changes the final drive to 2.97 & you keep your comp intact.My problem is,I have heard you can loose the cruise control.I don't know if its on 07s or 08s,or both.Regards,Tom ps:they have 3 different ways to buy the clutch ring sprocket,starting at $325 to over $600.

I've heard about the Evolution 49T sprocket. \\; Almost the exact final drive gearing I'm looking for.

You are probably going to find that \\;the longer the stroke of the engine beyond a TC88 the more you need a dampening device on the front sprocket. The rotational mass increases so much past 90" that the \\;torsional vibration increase has to go somewhere. The next rubber isolation parts down the line \\;being your engine mounts, footpegs, hand grips, seat....then your a$$... \\;
Got a few thousand miles on my dyna urban scooter with the 30th sprocket and love it. Most of my riding is hwy around 65 mph and \\;in town. \\;For my set up \\;and riding style the 30th gearing \\;is perfect. I would agree with Dalton though, probably more in tune for a dyna/sporty/cruser bike \\;then for touring.

From what I see this 30T primary will net about 3.15 gearing on a 2007 FXSTC. Would it be total \\;overkill to add a andrews 30T drive belt pulley also? I come up with about a 3.37 at that point. I do not do super extended trips...mostly street/strip drag racing, and maybe a 100 mile \\;jaunt to the mountains.

I did a upgrade to 103 and had the crank checked following about 13 thousand miles on the 30t sprocket and all is well. I am now at 110/111 with the w7/103 and plan on doing a few runs at the local drag.
