There's a lot of good information on here, hitting the threads with a thread sealant and any other connecting surfaces that are not flush fits should get a *thin* bead (you don't want that crap in your engine or transmission) around it (like dowel pins etc.). Cleaning and prepping the surface to a smooth finish is the single most important thing you can do aside from torqueing in the correct pattern to the correct value. I believe most of those things are covered in a single post down to the size of the fasteners. When they can tell you the size of the bolt from the hip, they probably know what they're doing.
On the other hand there is some information that isn't entirely correct, like changing to a belt driven system will in itself eliminate the need for oil in the primary. The same case which houses and shares oil with the gear driven transmission which will most certainly still require oil in order to work properly without major modification. belt driven systems like any other belt driven system will require maintenance more often, but won't wipe out your bottom end if it breaks so there are pluses.
Having a leak on a personal vehicle would drive someone like me nuts so I would gear up and throw down on bottom end refresh (might as well while your there). I would at the least check and or replace the chain and clutch pad, both items are relatively cheap compared to the damage they cause when they fail. Something you may choose to do for a temporary fix would be to run a heavier weight gear oil. Short of the slight drain of power it will not hurt the bike. This is a temporary fix, the underlying problem still exists. Excessive oil levels and or pressure can also cause issues like this so keep that in mind. Remember, you can do any job you set your mind to do through commitment and perseverance...

I hope this helps you or someone reading this,
