Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
i have a 1998 ultra classic that i have had a new tire mounted and brakes changed. while i had it up in the air i wanted to run the bike in 1st gear to see if i installed everything right. well with the clutch lever all the way in i put the bike in gear(1st) and the back wheel started turning imediately. although i was able to keep it from turning with pressure from my foot i am sure this isn't supposed to happen. the clutch lever does not have any play in it so i am a little confused on where it needs adjustment.
If you pullout on the cable at the lever there should be 1/8" clearance. That adjustment is in the cable adjusters. There is also a clutch adjustment behind the derby cover. You should invest in a shop manual for your bike if you are going to wrench on it yourself. They are well worth the 60 bucks or so that they cost.
Not unusual for the rear wheel to turn slightly when under zero load.

Jerry answered the OP`s question correctly, with a bit of good advice, in a polite way.
