Default Pat Kennedy Internal Throttle

One of the things I always liked about older bikes is the non-spring-return throttles routed thru the inside of the handlebars. I bought the Kennedy version for my Sloptail when I made up a set of stainless handlebars. It attached easily, being spot welded onto the bars through the ready-made holes in the assembly. I attached the universal cable I got from J&P, routed it as I wanted, and measured the length. Then I cut it off, soldered the cut end to keep it from fraying, and reassembled everything. Adjusting the cable length at the adjuster completed the task.

It has worked fine for over a year now. I had to readjust it once to account for the cable stretch. I use some synthetic grease on the worm gear and slider internal to the throttle about every 6 months.

The internal throttle cleans up the look of the bars considerably. I have no wires, switches, etc. on my bars, and this completes the "look". Some folks worry about not having push & pull cables, but I've never had a bike with them, and have never had any problems.

The Kennedy unit is well made, the instructions are complete enough, and it works as intended. I bes a happy camper wif it.

Since the pic-posting on this site is a bit limited, I'll try and take a close-up or two and see if they'll post decently. It'll take me awhile, tho.

I'm headin' out to the shop to see if I can get back on the clutch without screwing up my back. I'll take some pics of the bars and throttle. When I get'em developed later this week I'll stick 'em on here.

Here are a couple questions for you.. is this a pull only or a push only? did it require cutting of the handlebars? how far do you have to twist the grip to go to wide open throttle? i have heard that you have to twist reallllly far on some of these..

will i be able to use grips such as the ones in the bottom of this pic?
