Ihave been looking at the Lake Havazu City area. To take a little vacation.Thought I'd fly to Pheonix, rent a Scoot and check it out. How is the touring around there?
I love that area! While you're up there, take the time to go a little farther up and see Kingman........nice area. Stop in at Mother Road HD there. Also, take a cruise up rt 66 into Oatman! Awesome! Old mining town, wild burros wandering around town.............neat little shops............not far from Laughlin either if you want to do a little gambling. One of these days, we're gonna move out to that area!
Lake Havasu City....Eh....Not tooffend anyone, but other than the area by the London Bridge (decent brewpub on the water)...There's not much to see. It is also (reportedly) the hottest (temp wise)place in AZ. The ride up 95 (from I-10)has some decent scenery when you're along the Colorado River. From I-10 to Parker it's pretty muchOpen Desert (as is the section of 95 that goes north from I-40 to Boulder City-Ferrari territory-open and flat).
I made a one day trip (Buick LeSabre-with a good AC and XM radio) in July 2003(it was 126* in Lake Havasu City), left Scottsdale west on I-10, up 95 to Havasu (walked the bridge, then hada few beers), went north to I-40 east, then took US-93back into Phoenix/Scottsdale. US-93 is a real scenic route, IMO, lots of elevations changes, different types of cactus along the way....But it is pretty desolate. Don't hesitate to gas up whenever possible. I did see a couple HD riders out there in the 110* heat. Man that's hot, like riding in a sauna out there. Just better scenery.
I'm not certain about the weather in October/November (the 'monsoons' hit in late/late summer and early fall IIRC from what the 'locals' told me). You definitely don't wanna get caught in a flash flood...Whole roads disappear out there.
Another good option (if the weather is good) would be to go north into the 'Red Rock' areas. Visit Sedona, Flagstaff, Prescott...But you're in the mountains (they ski up there). So bring appropriate riding apparel.

October is beautiful in Arizona. There are a number of ways to get from Phx to The River areas. If you want to do the back roads, I can give you some nifty routes to take. Most of the roads are in good shape and make great riding. Much to see in Arizona if anyone has the time to spend.
