Today we will have our annual "Brass ***** New Year's Day" ride. So named because it is normally cold enough to freeze the ***** off of a brass monkey. Will take a 30 or so mile ride and then end up at my house for Pesole and Green Chile stew. Pesole is a traditional Mexican stew that is good luck on New Years Day, like black eyed peas only a whole lot better tasting. Temp is 23 right now and will probably 32 or so by the time we ride.
I pass out small key rings with two little brass ***** on them to everyone that rides. They make cool zipper pulls.

Your event sounds like a blast, albeit cold. Freeze the ***** off a brass monkey, one of those phrases steeped in legend and misinformation
chili and eggs topped with tomatoes and avocado. and some cheese.
Up at the column in my home town looking west to the ocean...
Your ride sounds great. Temps were about 45 along the north pacific coast today. I went for a short afternoon ride myself.
My neighbor is from NM. He has about 10 cases of hatch chili sent up every year around late summer. He roasts them in a roaster and freezes them for year round enjoyment. One of my favorites is chili and eggs.
Looking at your picture I was wondering where you got real chile in Oregon. Hatch is the best and we always get enough at the harvest to last through the winter.

YUP, hatch chili came become very addictive! If you are ever up along the Oregon coast, look me up!
My sister lived in Santa Fe for a number of years and I'll never forget Hatch chili. It certainly has it's own delicious flavor. When Cheryl and I did a ride on Rt 66 2 years ago we stopped at some place called Breezy Rain.
It was wonderful. The Green Chili Burrito brought me back a decade to my sister's dinner table. I can't wait to get back.
Happy New Year Bill - glad you got out for a ride.
Well I sure don't want to tell anyone that I live 20 miles from Hatch, NM. Sparkey's should be on everyone's, stop and eat place. No doubt, the best green chile cheeseburger anywhere. I did my annual New Year Ride today. Got in about 40 miles before it was time to warm up. Cold day, but a nice ride. Jim

Get your butt out here for the "Green Chile" ride and we'll fill you up with all the Hatch you can eat as well as some "Green Chile" wine that we found recently.
