So as I'm heading out next weekend I wanted to resurrect an old thread. Any updates on roads, weather, etc. anyone would like to give?
I rode north on the PCH two weeks ago from San Francisco to Seattle, covering the entire Oregon coast. The road is open, no major problems. The temperature was in the 60's and 70's. You should have a good ride.
I don't remember if this was mentioned earlier but one of the nice things to pay attention to along the Oregon coast are the bridges over all the rivers that empty into the Pacific. If you like bridges or civil engineering, this is a nice thing to pay attention to.
I'm thinking that will be what we do. Might make a stop somewhere between here and there for a night or two. Tossing around the idea of going into California before heading back. Not really sure about what there is in the northern part of CA though.
Redwoods, baby Redwoods ... beautiful riding roads along coast and inland ... Crescent City to Medford OR will give you a great taste - then put you back on I-5 ... to do whatever you want.
If you get down to the CA Redwoods on your way back up to Grants Pass check out the Oregon caves if you're not claustrophobic. They give guided tours, we've done it more than once.
