Default Oregon Coast

My wife informed me that we are going to the OR Coast this summer. No real plans, just riding. Any suggestions on where to go and what to see? We are planning on July hoping on less rain...
thanks all!

I'm thinking that will be what we do. Might make a stop somewhere between here and there for a night or two. Tossing around the idea of going into California before heading back. Not really sure about what there is in the northern part of CA though.

We are talking about riding out and doing the Oregon/California coast sometime in the next couple of years. The more I read on here, there is just way too much stuff out there to ride. Might have to turn it into 2 or 3 trips that way.

It has been many years, but my wife and I took a trip down the Oregon coast and very much enjoyed it. I'm a bit of a lighthouse collector, and there are several nice examples that are worth visiting. Some are quite spectacular, but my favorite was the Coquille River light near Bandon.

We also really liked Cannon Beach...had a great breakfast there...I want to say it was the Lazy Susan Cafe, but I can't swear to that.

Good luck.

Oregon coast is awesome. Usually great weather but be prepared for wind and fog just in case. Fog can be bloody cold.

Cold is something I TRY to be prepared for. I rode to Cali 1 time and it was supposed to be 95 during the day down low, I didn't factor in high elevation and early morning...

If you are riding from Boise, ID the I84 HWY ride will be great as well. Gorge is a great ride into Portland.
I would probably just head straight to Seaside area then cut down rather then going north just to come back down. That ride from Seaside down is great.

Seaside has some events in July that might want to check on.
Newport is a great fishing town. If you can stop, then go to old town. Get some dungeness crab you will not be sorry.
Depoe Bay right off of Hwy 101 has great views plan a quick stop there.

**edited super poor grammer **

I will be coming from Boise. So i84 is the way to go? We'll be sure to check out Old Time, I'm pretty sure we will have time.
Planning on probably about a week, and playing most of it by ear.
Thanks for the info so far all!
