Trip around Lake Superior is coming together. Clockwise stops in Grand Marais, Nipignon. Wawa and Sault Ste. Marie. What are some must do stops along the way? Places to eat/drink?
Great ride! I've done it a couple of times. There are a number of threads in this forum regarding this circle route and offering different perspectives. Outstanding scenery and riding, esp. Duluth to Thunder Bay and Nipigon to Sault Ste. Marie. Great places to eat but unfortunately I can't remember many names. Perhaps others can fill in. Good eateries in Grand Marais MN; Hoito's in Thunder Bay (authentic Finnish-not much on decor but great food); Rossport ON (can't remember name-Google maybe-may also be a B&B). A lot of the towns in UP MI and N. Ont are resource-based with boom-bust cycle so some may have seen better days but it doesn't take away from the scenery or people. If you are into quality but non-HD riding gear or bits there Aerostitch factory is in Duluth. It can get cool near water depending on prevailing wind and watch for moose if riding early morning, twilight or night. Enjoy!
The Provincial Parks are nice on the Northern side, and lots of water and waterfalls along the way. Don't pass many gas stops and hotels North of Thunder Bay, so limited options there. Once back into the U.P. you'll want to take a right off of M28 and head for Grand Marais, Mi. Riding H58 from there to Munising is a great ride. Lake Superior Brewing Company has good grub and drinks.
Marquette has plenty of food and lodging right on the shore of L. Superior, and depending on your trip dates, The Michigan State Hog Rally is being held here Aug. 13th-15th.
The Portside in downtown Marquette is a good choice for food and drink while passing through.
Let me know if you need any info on the Michigan side!

Thanks for the info. After Sault Ste. Marie, am heading to Midland to see grandsons. Was thinking of heading back around north Lake Michigan. May head up for a day or two on Southern L. Superior.
