Monkey Bar is one of the places downtown? Looks like only one hotel in this town. I will be coming from Savanna Illinois so should be fine on getting here. I made RedWing so Prescott is not to much further north
I think what some folks call the Monkey Bar is the No Name Saloon; that's what the sing in front says, anyway.
There's another popular biker bar & grill about 15 minutes south of Prescott called the Nauti Hawg, in Diamond Bluff, right on the river. Blink and you'll miss it, not a big town. Some real nice twisties between there and Prescott, one of the reasons I recommend taking the Wisconsin side up from Red Wing; the MN side doesn't get very interesting till you get closer to Winona, south of Red Wing. I shouldn't even go on the Wisconsin side, it's sooo tempting to go a bit over the speed limit.
Looking at the Prescott Motel it does not look to promising. I guess if I really want to I would have to get a taxi to get over there. Does not look to far. If I can not do that I would have to stay in Hastings and make the best of it unless anybody has other options close to here.

my Dad owned that Hotel in the 70s....you are correct, stay elsewhere..
Hastings has few options but nothing to write home about.
I was looking at bar in Hastings and they had Karoke on the weekends and seemed like it could be fun. Other than Hastings does anybody else have recommendation to stay in another town?
Hastings is kind of isolated, but does have a few motels, though I don't know what quality they are. Cottage Grove to the north has a couple; if you decided to come in from the north, aand were arriving in the evening, it might be convenient to just stop there. If from the south, coming up either side of the river, there's a bridge at Red Wing and it has several.
This link shows motels in the area, with links to their websites; not a lot within 20 miles of Hastings. Click on the "view larger map" button in the upper left corner of the map picture to go to the webpage.
