This coming September I am going to ride over the the Mississippi again and up to Hastings for my last night before heading back to the northwest Iowa. Does anybody recommend the best motel close to the nightlife and downtown area possibly. Decent and reasonably priced is preferred. Last year I stayed in RedWing and it was ok. The room seemed high priced to me at the Super 8 and the walk to the bar/restaurant was a ways
Yes here or somewhere around here. Like I said I stayed in Redwing last year and it was ok. Will be coming from Savanna Il that day. I don't want to get into Minneapolis.
I understand its not going to be like the city. A few bars sounds good to me to have fun in. How far is the Casino from downtown? What motel would you recommend here to stay for a reasonable amount and close to the few bars?
I ride through there occasionally. Don't know about motels, but Muddy Waters across the river in Wisconsin is a good place to eat, and even has a motorcycles only parking area in back (I wouldn't park on the street in front). Google map it, you can see where it is. Just a few minutes from Hastings.
Multiple level balconies facing the river are nice in warm weather.
There's a popular biker bar just down the street in front, always has a bunch of Harleys out front, but I haven't been in there. I'd stay on the Wisconsin side north of Red Wing both directions, less traffic, better and more scenic road, but take one side up and the other down for the rest, in Minnesota anyway; have only gone that way south as far as LaCrosse - if you're following the river either way.
