Draw a 200 mile circle around Asheville, you could ride for a week and never hit the same road

Couple good eating places I know of..
Pisgah Inn, on the parkway just north of 276 hwy. the view alone there is nice so if you do take 276 from Waynesville to Brevard (recommended already), when you get to the top turn north on the parkway, it's only like 1/2 a mile....nice place to take a break but the food us always good, it's run by the parks service.
Fat buddies bbq n ribs (Franklin or Paynesville
Bogarts (2 in Waynesville, good steaks and local trout)
Lakes end cabin rentals and grill on 1310 Wayah rd. In Aquone

Thanks guys getting it down to the final route when down there. Sounds like we may have to run interstates to get there to have more time when we are there. I would like to take back roads to get there but my Son only has a weeks vacation and can't take off until Saturday morning.

Word of advice. Instead of trying to take I-40 through Nasville get off on 840 near Dickson and go around the city. It comes back to I-40 near Lebanon. It adds about 20 miles but will be faster and very light traffic! Going thru Nashville can be a traffic nightmare that can sometimes take hours due to wrecks and never ending construction!! I had a friend sit on I-40 near Dickson for 8 hours Friday evening to go 1 1/2 miles because of a bad wreck. I-840 has only been open for a few years and as such has not been built up yet. That also means there are few if any gas stations near the road as of yet so if you need fuel it will be a few miles off the road at the exits to get to it.

You may want to consider taking the slab to either Louisville or Cincinnati (whichever way you choose), then do two lanes. I have done that and it was the best of two worlds. Freeway for one day a stay over and enjoy two lanes the next. A flat out race to the dragon on the freeway would take me several days to recover so I always try and take it easy going and coming.

That is what I have been looking at back in my over the road day Nashville sucked back then. Right now we are coming through Louisville at this time, but the boss may change her mind on the way she wants to go. This whole trip is on her dime

I guess I missed that part. Thought you were traveling from Memphis to the Dragon. 840 erases all those problems except it is not a very smooth road considering how new it is.

SD Lumpy you may want to check out Americaridesmaps.com they have a great selection of some of the most detailed pocket maps for this area of the country. The guy who runs it Wayne Busch from Waynesville does a great job keeping the maps current and including all the best rides in the area and amenities on each of them. Enjoy, we have some of the best riding in the country here in Western North Carolina.
