Default RE: Trailer Advice

A trailer creates more drag on the tow vehicle than just adding the weight to the tow vehicle. Try it with your pick up truck. A 500# trailer takes more power to two than 500# in the bed. Why? Partly because of the road/tire resistance, and partly because of aerodynamics.

A harley doesn't have much power to begin with. So adding a big trailer to a marginal tow vehicle is going to create some problems. You can get a trailer hitch for your Saturn. But how much can it tow?

Most MC trailers are basically a box on wheels. How big of a box do you really need? And how much does that box weigh? If you buy a 50 cu/ft box, you're more than likely going to fill it up. Hey, I got more space, I can carry more stuff! There's that weight thing again.

I've seen some one wheeled trailers for bikes, and have heard a lot of good things about them. That has the least amount of road drag. I'd look for one of those first. Then I'd buy just a flat trailer, no box. That would help me limit the things I carry. Less weight, smaller package, better aerodynamics. Probably cheaper tobuy that way, too.
