I'm Considering a trip from So. Jersey to W. Va and Ky. I've been through both and really Liked it there. Any Recommendations? I'm thinking I may run I 68 through Md. and circle around. Maybe 219/250 in W.Va. How's that Rte. 68 that runs in and around Lexington, Ky?
I don't have a map now but 250 (while a nice road) runs the wrong direction for going to Kentucky. You could take 219 south from I68 in MD all the way down to Lewisburg WV. Expect a little congestion from Elkins to Huttinsville but from Huttinsville south is all nice.
68 from Cumberland to I 79 is a great ride. I always heard that WV route 50 was a nice ride, and Ridewva confirmed --- it definitely was. If you're heading west, take 219 south from 68 to 50, and then ride 50 west. It'll be worth it. (I'm heading to WV to do it again --- maybe this weekend.) Then when you get to Clarksburg & 79, you can map your way to KY. You'll love 50 between 219 & Clarksburg.
68 through KY is a good, scenic road. If you have time, ride "Old Frankfort Pike" (hwy 1681) between Frankort and Lexington. Goes through some beautiful horse farm country.
Lots of Great Advise. Thank You. I think I'll Take I 68 to 219 South in MD. Then to 60 West in Charleston. Then Jump on The interstate (64 West) To Mt Sterling KY. There I'll Pick up 460 for a short jump to 68 North in to Ohio. 68 Changes to 41 and will run Me to Chillicothe,OH. Then I'll Take 50 east and return.
Rte I 68 in MD had some great Mountains, I'll want to hit them again somewhere.
Probably going to leave Sun Morn and stay 4 or 5 days. Just kinda enjoying the USA!!

50 in WV is a good ride, but doesn't really get "fun" until you're east of Clarksburg. I took 219 north when I got there, but when I go back to do it again, I heard that it's "fun" all the way to 220, and then go up to 68 at Cumberland MD. That's what I'm gonna do this next trip on 50.

I really haven't planned My Return. How's 30 east, through Gettysburg/ Lancaster etc. Congested? I know York Will be!
I'll Be looping Balt. and 70 to 68 on the way down.

Never been on 30 on the bike, but I hear it's a nice ride west of Gettysburg & Chambersburg. Yup, gonna be congested east of York, through Lancaster, all the way to Downingtown & Phila. About 6 or 8 miles east of Lancaster, take a look at 41 down to route 1 north, and then 202 to Wilmington, and cross the bridge down there. Or 41 to route 1 north to 322, and across Commodore Barry. Any way you do it, it's gonna be busy after you get to York if you're on 30.
