Headed to Branson, MO
Looks like we have a group headed to Branson the end of July for a few days of riding in NW Arkansas before heading down to Hot Springs and then Memphis, Nashville and home. Is there a better or worse area to stay in Branson? There are certainly a ton of hotel/motels but none of us have been there before............. Looking for recommendations as to locations and any great routes. I have grabbed some routes from Pig Tail HD that look good and surprisingly, include stops at their stores. lol Anyway, any input is appreciated. Thanks.

If you are not looking to play Branson tourist....shopping, shows, bars, etc.... Maybe consider another town. Tons of traffic. That said, there are rooms a little off the main strip that are very reasonable, w breakfast. Local owned joints are often nice and not 100 a night. Folks here do the timeshare thingy and stay for very little, just have to sit thru a 2 hour sales pitch and stuff. Condos and free meal vouchers. Main strip gets stop and go when big shows are filling up. You can go down the valley or next hill over and go around often.
Eureka Springs is a good option. Weekdays there can get rooms at a good fee, too. Eureka is also right in on all kinds of loops with great riding.

The main strip can be a pain in the butt when it gets congested. If you don't want to be in the middle of it all, you could look at places closer to Table Rock lake. If you are staying for a few days there are usually houses/cabins/condos you can rent that would be cozier than a hotel. If you are interested, College of the Ozarks is a pretty place and has a nice Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Point Lookout.

If you go to Branson learn how to use the alternate colored routes to avoid old country 76 as much as possible. It's a nightmare that time of year.
Branson landing is the east end of town right by lake Tanycomo , there's a hilton which is very nice, and it's a retail shopping district and just a short walk to downtown which is kind of cool.
The main strip has a ton of hotel options.
I have stayed at the Radisson, Angel Inn, Dockers Inn, Castle Rock Resort and Water Park(cool place if you have kids in that 4-12 year old range). Any of those I would stay in again. We used to stay at the Radisson all the time a friend was the bartneder there and we got his employee rate, the indoor pool and hot tub is right next to the bar and has a bar service window
Branson west is out by table rock it's pretty as well.
North of Branson about 15 minutes out in the hills is Copper Run Distillery, fun little tour and tasting room. It can be a really relaxing place to go once you know how to get around. The Titanic museum is very cool as well.

Unless you go there to see a show or silver dollar city (steal your dollar city) I'd pass on it. If you just are going for the ride, then there's plenty of beautiful country to ride without the tourist trap.

Totally agree with some of the others. If your trip is about riding, stay away from Branson. Now if you are wanting to stay there and do Branson things one day, the so be it. The only time I went to Branson on the bike was in mid October. Traffic not so bad then and stayed there 2 nights.

We are taking the collective advise and going straight to Eureka Springs for three nights. Will do loop rides out of there. Thanks for the heads up on Branson!!!!
Another quick question....looks like it can get pretty desolate (according to BaseCamp anyway) as to places to take a break (gas, water, food etc) along the better roads like 16, 21, 23 and others. Is the National Forest area really that bereft of amenities?
Thanks again to all who have responded.
