I'm going to the Mississippi River next week. Staying along the river south of Interstate 80. Any fun towns with good nightlife. Also best roads across Iowa and along the river.
If you're down near Davenport DO NOT MISS the Chief Blackhawk swap meet. It's the best antique meet and bike show I've ever been to. Never saw so many vintage Chiefs , old Harleys and other old iron driving around, Many antique projects for sale and incredible restorations. Almost bought a '21 HD. I wish I was going down there.

The roads on either side of the river, from 80 to Minnesota are worth riding....so up one side and down the other!
Poopy's in Savanna Illinois is worth the ride up the river.
Yes I am staying in Savanna on Friday night. Love this little town and a lot of fun here. I will be south of 80 on Thursday night so thats where I am looking at sights to see and a fun town to stay in.

If you haven't rode down Derinda / Scenic Ridge road, you need too.
I cannot speak to the fun to be had in Keokuk or Ft Madison since I am not certain of your definition of "fun".
BUT from the quad cities south I would stay on the Illinois side of the river. The roads tend to run a bit closer to the river than on the Iowa side.
There is a sports bar in Keithsburg IL that has a good lunch menu. Nauvoo is a big Mormon settlement and kind of cool to spend sometime down in the old part of town by the river. But Nauvoo is just south of Ft Madison.
In Ft Madison is a great ice cream place right next to an old stone building that is a prison.
I will have to look into this. Yes the Illinois side looks like its closer to the river. Going through Davenport looks like staying on the Illinois side will get me through quicker?
