I've lived in Texas all my life and never been out there. Always wanted to check it out. Being in S.E. Texas. It's a hike, two days just going and returning. Hard days. Almost 700 miles each way.

Thanks to everyone for your inputs!
I believe you are right. I am limited on time right now until summer but I really wanna make this trip before it gets too hot. I am gonna plan this little trip for sometime in April. I can leave the house early on a Friday, ride some of the park on Saturday and trek back on Sunday. Is Terlingua a decent place or centerpoint?
Alpine is home of the simply incredible Reata Restaurant. Enjoyed that place ever since it moved in 1995 out of the after-hours cafeteria of Sul Ross University where it started. The pan-seared, pepper crusted tenderloin with port wine sauce in the best beef you will eat anywhere. Al Micaleff raises the beef on his own Clear Fork Ranch. And you really need to try the calf fries with cream gravy for an appetizer. https://www.reata.net/alpine/

That road into Big Bend Ranch State Park may be a real challenge on a big, heavy touring bike loaded with gear. Not saying it can’t be done but maybe not worth the hassle. An ADV bike would be fun. About 10 years ago I took a 4-wheel drive Suburban in there just to run those roads. 2-wheel drive would have been fine, just need some ground clearance. Very cool state park. Maybe someone with more recent experience will check in here.

I have no idea what the roads are like but my brother and I are riding down there on May 18th for the weekend. Two weeks from today as a matter of fact. We are riding down Friday, riding the park Saturday and humping it back Sunday. The Reata Restaurant is definitely on our schedule heading down there after looking at the menu. Looks like about 1500 miles over the course of those three days.
As long as you dont venture off from the highway, all the roads in the park are paved, low speed roads. Great actually.
Thanks, we are looking forward to this trip. We haven't been on a road trip together on the bikes in years. Twisted Sisters are next on the list, hopefully before it gets too hot.
