Blue Ridge Parkway?
BTW, The highest point on the parkway is near MM 430. You could choose to visit Cherokee, Deals Gap, Maggie Valley, Little Switzerland, Mount Mitchell State Park (the highest point east of the Mississippi River and at its peak you can see 5 states)Linville Falls and Linville Caverns, etc. There are so many things to see in the area, I wouldnt spend all my time on the BRP.
I would return via I 40 and 77 (near Asheville - see Biltmore House) and get back on the parkway in Fancy Gap VA. And visit Chateau Morrisette Winery. From there drive through Meadows of Dan and get on 58 to get back on 77 outside Hillsville. And of course there are many, many things I am forgetting and I hope others can chime in or correct me and add their thoughts.
We are butchering a steer at the cabin to bring back to Florida and want to give it a few days in deep freeze.
That gives me a couple days to kill [lol].
Olwhatshername has never been in that area nor seen the BRP. I want to hit some breweries in Ashville and I'm sure she will like Little Switzerland.
We'll be starting in Cherokee, head north then cut east to Mountain City where I have a friend I want to visit then head back to Tellico area.
We were there 5 weeks ago, and Linville Cove are was closed, the detour was a great road, but today, I read THAT was closed due to storm damage
Many of the look outs are showing the same valley below, so after a while you'll figure THAT out, and maybe not stop at each.
Bring rain gear, and at least a heavy sweatshirt..as temps can drop quickly, and rain will be just around the next bend
Must sees??? well that all depends on what YOU like.... but I'd say, the D-Day Memorial in Bedford VA, is pretty much a must see for all
If we're doing the Parkway end to end, including Skyline, we do overnites around Mt.Airy and Asheville, then on to Maggie, Cherokee and Gatlinburg......
Lotsa great riding in the area, you won't see it all in one trip...... y'all will hafta come back......
