Default Weekend ride from Portland in late July

I need to be in Portland for the last two weeks of July and was thinking about renting a bike during the middle weekend. Was thinking about heading over to the coast at Astoria and then heading up the Olympic peninsula to Port Angeles and the find my way back to Portland the next day. Is this a good 2 day trip? Are there better places I should consider?

thanks

Don

A trip I had taken a several times is Washington highway 14 up the Columbia Gorge. Cut south to The Dalles Or. Either go South from there on 197 to Maupin, Or, 218 West to highway 26 then take 26 West over mount Hood and on back into Portland. You could also take 84 West to Hood River, Or then cut South on 35. That will drop onto 26 to go over Hood. I’ve made that pretty easy on one day.
