Retired pilot; considering another ride to Sturgis, or perhaps going beyond to Oshkosh during Airventure 2019. I did this last year, was fun! Also, last year, I rode from Portland, Oregon to Skagway, Alaska. I am considering the ride it again, but this time ride to Smithers BC, then North up the Cassiar Highway, and take a right to ride down the Alcan. Looking for any interested riders who share similar destination interests.
HOG is having a rally in July in Alaska. I’m going to Deadhorse leaving mid to late June might hit the rally on the way home. Oshkosh is awesome maybe again in a year or two.
Cap'n Gary, did you ride to Oshkosh and camp. If so, did you stay at the event camping? How were the facilities? I have looked at their site with thoughts of going one day. My dad went back in the 90's.
The Appleton area is pretty congested most anytime.
I did ride into Oshkosh in the 70s . a long time ago
Now it is either fly or drive, as it is dam crowded on the roads anywhere near there.
Retired pilot seems Oshkosh would be the thing for you. Sturgis is fine for those that are into the stuff that goes on there but once is enough. If you do Oshkosh you are not far from the HD museum so a visit is not out of your way. If you decide to do Oshkosh let me know not far from us and would be happy to supply and help we can..
The air show is amazing and growing every year. But when you have had enough of the crowd in a heart beat off to do other things.
