July 4th week trip 2019
This year I'm thinking of going to Myrtle Beach . I know nothing about the area .
Any good riding there along the coast ? Where to eat ? Where to stay ? July 2nd
will be our 42nd anniversary . I try & keep the trip 500 miles or less from home .
Any & all help & ideas appreciated .
Check in the HD dealer, they will give you a map (what's that) with points of interests in around Mrytle beach and beyond....Oh, went to Florence, SC HD for a tee shirt too.
Did a luncheon in Georgetown, SC, South of MB..a quaint little sea port town, a place MBHD recommended!!!!Good luck and have fun!
Oh yeah, we stayed with family in Surfside, hit a place called Sundowner grill, tell them your friends with my Uncle Carson and Judy, they will take care of you....order the Shrimp and Grits!!! Nice

Friendly staff and it's right next door to a good restaurant (in case it rains) and it's very near a seafood buffet and right on the main drag.
Short walk to the beach and they have an outside pool.
I'd stay there again
Comfort Inn near Barefoot Landing
3801 Hwy 17 S, North Myrtle Beach, SC, 29582, US18.99 mi / 30.57 kmVery Good! 4.0 of 5 (296 Reviews) Featured Amenities: Free WiFi, Free Hot Breakfast, Smoke FreeThey chose the east side as the wanted to ride up and across the MI-UP, so I had the west side, which was more overall miles, but a few less dealerships.
Our plan was to meet somewhere near the Milwaukee are and return home together.
Well, as the time for the trip started getting closer, my LH knee was continuing to get worse (and unbeknownst to me) I had obviously had a "silent heart attack" and I was packing on pounds (in water) and not feeling 100% ;(
I had my gear packed and was ready to go (as scheduled) but at the last minute I decided to take my convertible instead of my motorcycle just in the event that things went "downhill".
It worked out perfectly (almost).
I had THREE days of "top down" cruising, visiting all my dealerships and meeting a lot of nice people and having my nightly "suds"

On the fourth day, as I headed east and south, the weather started to change for the worse.
I called my friends and the east side of the state had been "very, very wet" and they were running behind so I picked up three of their dealerships and was in my motel in Racine by early afternoon.
They arrived that evening and was shocked to see my convertible instead of my CVO Ultra

Our "last day" ride home started out dry and warm but by the time we got close to Chicago it turned hot and before long, it started turning wet. Rain suits were put on (not me
) for the ride east and it finally stopped raining and the rain suits acme off just east of the MI/IN state line.I'd been though WI many times through the years, but on this trip I got to see a lot of the "out of the way" towns and farms, etc. that aren't near the freeways and it is beautiful riding, even in a car.

I like to ride ocean blvd and also ride 17 north to Wilmington, NC and tour the Battleship NC.
Check out Crabby Mikes for the best seafood buffet.
Peaches Corner for some nostalgic eating.
Ocean Annies in North Myrtle is a nice beach bar for us older folks.
Lee's Inlet Kitchen in Murrells Inlet for up scale seafood dining.
