Rolling Thunder
I've personally done the run many times as I live in Virginia.
There are complex reasons why Rolling Thunder does not want to do it anymore.
The original organizers who are still in charge are aging and the Rolling Thunder Chapter members are all required to work their asses off every year.
What was said about fees and trouble with DC are true also.
My opinion is that if some other groups (Combat Vets Assoc, American Legion Riders, VFW, etc.) pick up the leadership, the event can go on.
But to address the rising fees, registration of 10 or 20 bucks from each rider would go a long way to addressing that issue. I know that was never the intention but in these times it would be a necessary evil.
Speaking as a Legion Rider, I know we have the man power to lead it. But the thing is, could they get all the chapters to commit and can they get charismatic, tireless leaders. A Northern Virginia Chapter already hosts a huge connected event.
We will see, but this may be indeed, the last one.
