Me and about 300,000 bikes are riding Rolling Thunder tomorrow. http://rollingthunderrun.com/. Doing it mostly for my cousin Ron. He came home from Viet Nam, but 2 tours in a MASH were hard on him. Died a while back. Miss him every day.
Ride for all of us that was not able to make it this year. Thanks to your Cuz and all the men and women how have served or are serving this great country. God Bless.
I had it all set up to go, I had made and paid hotel reservation and was going to hook up with some riders in NC on Thursday. I was packing the bike when I got news that my wife’s Uncle had just passed in his sleep.
I have a few friends that make the ride from South GA and Florida every year. They're all retired and make it about a 2 week trip. I on the other hand have to work. Maybe one day.
Had a mighty fine time at RT today, except when I lost my bike. Pulled into the north parking lot, scoped out my position (I thought) then zoomed to the port-o-john. Took me about 45 minutes to find my bike. Seems a lot of people copied my look: black street SG w/ lots of chrome.
Tried a new way this year. Rode to Battley's in Gaithersburg (I live in DC) then rode with about 3,000 bikes the ~40 miles to Pentagon. Police escort was very cool. NOTHING like seeing lines of cars stacked up on 270 and the Beltway waiting for us to ride on. Folks cheering from the roadside much of the way.
I do the ride every year, either from the Pentagon on or on the road in support. This year road into the city and stood tall to support all that road. During the event a Canadian SF guy road his Harley up to the Marine that stands tall at the event beginning, presented him with a Red Poppy and Canadian flag,, snapped to attention and saluted. All at the site gave a big round of applause!! Again fantastic day and weather could not have been any nicer!!!
