My SIL worked off shore for years. He's in West Texas now. 84 makes for a super ride out through Louisiana. Well, you sure have bed and breakfast all setup for you out in East Texas. Check out East Texas Burger Co. in Mineola for a worthy little ride. Enjoy the ride back.

Just to nice not to. Spent most of the day cruising about 60 down back roads, through small towns around Athens, Richland-Chambers Reservoir, Fairfield, Dew, Crockett just to name a few. Lots of little villages around here. If you haven't seen the back country, just ride around that area. Not much to see, but thought I would put photos up for those needing something to look at.
Richland-Chambers Reservoir Dam
Quick snap shot as I was on a narrow bridge.
Folks park, walk the trail on the right and out on the concrete wall / sidewalk and fish all you want.
Another shot.
The dam dirt embankment around lower part of the Reservoir.
I would ride through there in early '80s. A whole lot of dirt was moved.
Fairfield Courthouse
Courthouse square.
Fairfield has their Show of Wheels in September in the town square. Pretty good for town this size. Usually make the trip and eat at Sam's. Worth the ride for those looking for that kind of stuff. Mark your calendar.
My wife and am like to challenge ourselves on day rides. One of our best was leaving central NC at 7am, eating breakfast in Mountain City, TN. Riding the snake, cruising up into Kentucky for lunch next to Mine Shaft HD. Riding back roads through coal country to Charleston, WV. Then hitting I-77 back south. Had dinner in Fancy Gap, Va and got home at 7pm. Total 550 miles! We cannot understand why no one wants to ride with us! LOL
