Had a minute, was thinking back to some fun times this summer. I took a trip down to the Valles Caldera area in NM near Los Alamos in July on my own, and had a good time boondocking and checking out the natural hot springs. Making memories is always "fun" besides the actual fun - 20 miles on mountain forest service roads (you know, boulders, washboard, dodging pits filled with water, etc.) loosened enough wires in my RK Police that I've been fighting subtle headaches since. I'm too cheap to outright by a new harness (plus it's a police model, which makes everything juuuuuuust a bit different), but the slight headaches fixable in the winter are always worth the good summer adventures.
That last pic is the amount of dust on the bike after 10 such dirty miles, on a perfectly dry day. Needless to say, I was cleaning up crud from all my belongings for a while after that.
Anyone else have a memory they want to share that cheers them up when they see slush on the roads?
Damn nice photos.. Looks like it was a great ride... I'm not a fan of non riding weather either. This was from the BRP ( Little Switzerland Inn) last year.. End of the day, rib eye dinner, bourbon in one hand, cigar the other and all that out in front of me..
Spring cant come soon enough for me.
We had a great time at Little Switzerland in 2018. The owners daughter was getting married the same time so they really pulled out the stops on everything.
That fire pit rocked!
Nothing brings back those old recollections like your preferred tunes. Also, regardless of whether you recollect your first Beatles record, or that first Drake show, we was unable to picture our summers without inconceivable music.
Having riding companions on a long trip can be entertaining )and convenient in case of trouble) but I also enjoy my "me" time and I've done lots of that during my time on motorcycles.
When I retuned from Alaska, I was riding alone and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the folks that I met on the ferry ride down to Washington.
From Washington I had nearly a week of touring to get to Boise, ID so I detoured a bit and got to see Mt. St. Helens (pictures couldn't do it justice), Mt. Rainer and Crater Lake.
A person could probably take a month and still not see everything there is to see and do out there but it would be a heck of a nice getaway!
My only hesitation would be is that neither WA or OR recognizes my CPL and I can't see giving them my vacation bucks while having to cruise around defenseless.
