My in-laws used to own it back in the 90's. While I was stationed in Ft Drum we would go there every Christmas. When I retired I moved to Machias while I looked for a real job.
Many Memories, but alas both my wife and my son have passed on. So has my mother-in-law. Father in law moved to Eastport.
They say if you go down to the water's edge and look east just at sunrise the sky flashes green.

I was born in Lubec back in '57.
My wife and I ride there a couple times a summer, and visit Campabello Island while in town. East QuoddyHead LightHouse is amazing on Campabello Island, as is Roosevelt's Cottages
Lubec has a brewery....Old Factory B is a good stop for food, with a back deck over a working dock.
You can literally walk down the middle of Main St and not worry about getting hit by a car / truck / train or airplane.
Second thought - I'm going to give the HD tourcard a shot this year. First time hearing about it, but it will give me some ideas about where to go. Caribou is going to be a stretch!
Wife and I participate in the Tourcard---gives a destination for a weekend ride---many of them can be done over a weekend with a one night stay over , we kind of look forward to it
The CapeCod and Caribou are the 2 furthest destinations from where we live---Caribou is actually a 3 or 4 day weekend trip for us , or a week in Maine[ visiting Acadia]
The Cape and the RI dealers kinda suck traffic wise---all good tho
I'm right around Worcester, MA, so everything is pretty easily reachable. Worked on my summer ride schedule last week....matching who's open Sundays vs just Saturday, mileage in between, whether I can hit 2 early on a Saturday before I need to be back to go to a lacrosse game, or a birthday party, or a bbq....'free time' is somewhat of a misnomer, but I'm going to jam as much in as I can! Caribou is going to be a single stop trip, worked around a fishing trip weekend near Passadumkeag.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I grew up in Spencer & the Brookfield's. Used to stomp all over Quabbin reservoir. Great riding from there all the way to North Adams & beyond. Did you know......that you can take RT 31 out of Spencer almost all the way to Claremont, NH. Pick up the 2and NH Turnpike in Washington......short run to Claremont. Short run from there to Windsor, VT just over the river........where there is an awesome Harpoon Brewery 😎
Lubec was on our bucket list of places to visit last October (in a car) with the intent of visiting West Quoddy and East Quoddy Lighthouses. East Quoddy is on Campobello Island which lies across a bridge from Lubec in Canada. FYI, we took our U.S. passports with us and the border guards did ask to view them. Both lighthouses were pretty special but you need to plan ahead for low tide in order to visit East Quoddy up close...you need to walk across a spit of land while the tide is down. West Quoddy has a marker that states that you are standing on the closest point of the U.S. to Africa (Google it, its quite true!). While in Maine last year we partook of the local menu - and I'm telling you straight up the best Lobster Roll we had during our two week trip was at Franks Dockside Restaurant in Lubec! If I ever make it back there from Colorado I'll stand in line to have another!! Another place to visit on Campbello Island is the summer home of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. This is a national park that is funded by both Canada and the U.S. because it was such an important place. Worth the price of admission and tour. There are several roads leading from the main highway worth visiting and if you're into hikes of 1-2 miles there are lots of opportunities. Have a fun trip...beautiful area! PS; One last piece of information: The towns from Bangor to Lubec are very small and the advice given about hotels is spot-on. We rented a home in Ellsworth, ME (about 10 miles from Bangor) and used Homeaway.com The place we stayed at was off the path, and beautiful. Four of us stayed there for a rate less than a hotel for two of us. You need to book now though because we got the feeling that lots of others visit from the larger cities on the eastern U.S.
