Default DC anyone?

Planning a trip to DC and while ive driven truck around the city, never been any further than the interstate. Can anyone give me tips or advice about riding motorcycle out there? Other than "dont do it" Lol.
Thanks in advance.

I haven’t ridden in DC, but flew in last spring. We really enjoyed it. Traffic can be brutal at times. We played tourist and took the subway and Uber.

I live about 80 miles west and work close to DC. Lots to see, motorcycles are commonplace, infact you're likely to encounter a motorcycle cop if you are caught speeding, lol. Expensive, lodging...food..museums are free thought courtesy of your tax dollars. What do you want to do while down here?

there's a member here that's a retire D.C. motor officer, maybe he'll chime in

I rode up there three years ago, really no different than riding in any other city. Alexandria is great, stay out of Anacostia and the SE side in general, ride around the monuments and over to Arlington, it's really a great city to be in at times

You can easily spend a week in the Smithsonian...I have, and then some. Get into town EARLY if you want to find parking. Once there, in a decent parking spot..STAY there until you're ready to get out of town. That will limit your meal choices during the day...but parking can be a real issue if you try to ride around to get where you want to go. D.C. is a fabulous place to visit. Should be on every American's "bucket list". The National Archives alone are worth the trip...to stand in front of our country's ACTUAL founding documents is an awesome thing.
Stay loose and commit to just enjoying the experience and you'll be fine.

Ride in on the weekend and get a room somewhere that has shuttle service to the subway. Lots of walking involved, but great place to visit. If you are into aviation, there is another museum out at Dulles Airport where they have the Enola Gay and a space shuttle and a lot of others. I commuted into the area some a few years back from Richmond. The locals told me to make sure I left by 2:00 pm. Still in stop and go traffic on 95. I started leaving after lunch.

The trick is to pony up some cash and get a hotel right in the middle of town by the Smithsonian/Mall and the monuments. Get there, park the bike hopefully in a parking garage then walk around for the weekend. Good luck.

It has been a few years since we visited DC but we stayed outside the city, I cannot remember the name of the town though. But there was a subway stop there. Each morning we simply walked to the train station, hopped on and took it to the mall area. Spent hours walking the mall and every where around there. We did this on 3 different days and really enjoyed ourselves. Like I said, a lot of walking but it was nice to not have to fight traffic or parking problems.

I live South of the city, I recommend you find a hotel in Crystal City Arlington, its just right outside of DC with plenty of nightlife and shopping, if you like baseball, Nat stadium is right down the road too, There is a metro stop in CC, also suggest using metro to all the attractions in DC. I'm sure you will enjoy all the very good food trucks in DC. enjoy yourself.

Edit
Forgot to mention, riding in DC is easy with plenty of motorcycle parking,

rk classic.
