Roads Ridden.. Roads to Ride..
These are on my list to ride.... at some point..
At the top of the Galena Pass pull out Thats the sawtooth mountains Stanley is about a half an hour up that valley The best time to ride that northerly route is in the early afternoon.
Then on your way to Stanley, and stay at the High Country Inn... and maybe you can stay in the same room Frank Sinatra use to stay in, I did... breakfast, and on your way up towards Challis by the Salmon River... this is one of the most spectacular motorcycle roads anywhere... and on your way north towards Lolo... and up and over The lost Trail pass, another spectacular climb and decent... Once in Lolo, again, nothing to see here... head west... up to the top of the pass, and stop in the little Info shop at the top... there is a great map in there, and lots of info on the area... then down you go... Lunch just off the top on the west side at Lochsa Lodge (I stayed here once in a cabin... and great food).... now down the rest of the 99 miles of it... and on towards Lewiston... don't stay here unless you like the smell of a Pulp Plant with your dinner... and south on 129 towards Enterprise... twisty road up out of Lewiston, and very twisty down off the top of Rattlesnake Pass... and a stop at the bottom of the hill at Bogan's for Pie or a Milk Shake... then back up a nice twisty bit, and on your way to Enterprise... but keep going to Joseph... and stay at the Indian Lodge Motel... supper at what looks good to you... If you interested in a bit of History, Chief Joseph is buried just a mile or so south of the town... and there is a great lake there... I always do my best to stop and pay my respects to him... take a trinket to leave, you will see why when you get there.
Breakfast at The Cheyenne Cafe... After you struggle to get back on your bike, because you ate WAY to much there (you can clearly see now that it is all about the highways and food for me)... on towards Hell's Canyon... make sure you take the short detour to the look out, it is spectacular... and you might find my knife... lol... once your out of Hell's canyon, west towards Baker City... make sure you stop at the Oregon Trail museum at the top of the hill before you descend into Baker City... it is worth the entrance fee... if you are so inclined, once you get out of Hell's Canyon, you can head east and up towards the Dam... I have never done the bit to the dam, but hear it is worthy... and then loop back towards Baker City.
With the exception of the Idaho desert, and a bit of 93, all Bucket List material.
you could do this in two days, but you will miss stuff to do it... three days is a nice time line.

Anyone can post in the thread and ask for routes they have traveled and/or points of interest to be added.
I have found it very helpful.
