Short trip. Left in the rain then had to cut it short to get back before more rain.
Last 2 days were 500 and 733 miles. I still can't believe I did 733 13 hrs today, I'll feel it tomorrow.
Man I miss Colorado! Did a loop around the state a few years ago and road thru it on a trip to sturgis a year or two before that. I can’t wait to get back! Like my location says, I live way too far East. I’m so jealous of everyone near sd, co, mt, id, as, ut etc. I love it out there!
That was the dilemma. I wanted to take US50 through Gunnison (and ride more nice roads) but it had work closure so I had few choices. It was showing a rainy weekend in the area and NM. So I took the north route up Cardondale to catch 70 east thru Denver. Which ended up being a nice ride with big sweepers (been a few years since I took it last).... Until I got TO Denver., bumper to bumper till I got through it.
But then it was fine to Burlington, CO.. Thought it was Burlington, KS it was so far East. Didn't know CO went that far out of Denver.
Then hit Salido, KS, and turned South to Texas.
It really was a nice ride, just a straight road till I got home.
The ride through Hotchkiss over McClure Pass to Carbondale is one of my favorite rides. Many riders overlook it.
McClure isn’t very high altitude but the scenery is beautiful.
Just a note on hotels..
Hotel Ouray.. Excellent Ave great location.
Econo Lodge Burlington, CO Very clean.
Travel Lodge Alamosa.. Avoid at all costs.. 1 Star
