We’ve started planning our mid June vac for next year. Our plan is to make a hard 2 day trip to Durango and spend 3 days riding that area. Then we’re planning on heading to Moab for 3 days and finally heading to either Kanab or Springdale for 4 days and then making it back to VA over 3 days. This is just the skeleton of the trip, suggestions welcome. Durango and Moab would be repeat visits from years ago so we are somewhat familiar with the riding in those areas but our 1st trip to the Zion National Park region. I can take a total of 15 or 16 days off from work including travel time.

Don't know where you are in VA but that's probably way too much mileage from VA to Durango over 2 days and all highway. Especially if you have a passenger..Suggest making it 3 days to Durango. Maybe take 1/2 day and go thru Madrid, NM if you're taking the route thru TX? Then go north on Hwy 550 thru Silverton and stop for night in Ouray and explore the town on foot. Then cut over to Moab via 145&90..
Zion-we stayed at HI express in Springdale on our May visit and it was beautiful..Oh, there's part of ZION you cannot ride have to take the ZION Canyon Shuttle and get tickets online in advance..
And you can go West on 9 out of Springdale to 17N to 15N to Kolob Canyons.

Having done several trips out that way, and perhaps it's the "wimp" in me but I'd prefer to trailer my bike to an area south of Pueblo (Walsenburg?), store the tow vehicle and trailer and then tour from there.
That would be an easy two day run (especially with multiple drivers) over a lot of "flyover country" and you'd be rested and ready to ride once you got there.
Most of my trips out that way have been where my wife flies to and from the nearest airport (when she was still working and it saved her vacation time).
For me this makes sense as it gives you much more time to tour on your bike, and IF you should have a mechanical breakdown (or God forbid a serious accident) your tow vehicle would be much closer for you to access.
That's a pretty good 2-day trek for sure. 1000 mile days?.. but yer a stud.. ha
Zion is a cool place and better if you hike some. Bryce Canyon if you haven't visited.
Escalante for sure but guessing you've ridden it. Utah in general!
Will be hot in some of those areas..
Enjoy man!

I know its a haul. Thats why we tow our bike to our destination then park our truck and just ride. You might be right. I've done 2 days to Alamosa from Winchester and that was a haul.
All reservations made! Winchester Va to Kansas City and then to alamosa. One day to ride the Great Sand Dunes Park and the San Luis mountains. Then 3 days in Durango doing the mountain rides. Then 2 days in Moab and finally 4 day n the Zion region. 3 days to get back to Virginia. June can’t get here quick enough!!
Alamosa to Durango via South Fork is a nice ride!
just don't stay in the Rodeway Inn there unless they've remodeled in the last year or so.. terrible..
If you come near Colorado Springs while here let me know. Or if you wanna take a extra day out of the alamosa area we can go get some riding in on this side of the state. All in all enjoy your time and riding.
