Default Planning ahead, 65 birthday gift!

So I’ll turn 65 in 2 years and plan to retire in may of 2024. My wife of 36 years has given me permission to go for a month long 4 corners ride while I’m physically able to do it. I’m excited beyond belief to start planning. I don’t want to do the standard key west, California, Washington, Maine trip. I plan to make it really epic, maybe 12 or 14k miles. Any input is welcome. I have the bike to do it, the 2019 rgs.

I have done the 4C' several times.

1. The Southern Calif. Motorcycle Assoc. (SCMA) found HERE has a 4 C tour found HERE. If you do the tour in X days then you get all kinds of cool stuff. YOU can do it in X days. It is not hard. They also have the 4 C tour including the middle of the country.

2. The SW corner is NOT San Diego as MANY ppl think my friend. It is San Ysidros.

3. The NW corner is Madawaska. There is the only HD Park totally free park there. The person who started that park is Joe LaChance a friend of mine. If u like, I can arrange for him and likely his wife Diane to meet you at the park and you will receive a certificate for being in the most north eastern part of the usa signed by the governor etc....

4. When going to the SE corner, it is the Buoy Marker at South & Whitehead streets I recall. NOT White Street. Whitehead.

It is very expensive to stay in Key West KJ, so you may wanna plan the night elsewhere. But if you DO stay in KW, 1 of my FAV bars and a few things to do down there are FUN!!!

Be careful up there in them thar Maine early morn 'n later afternoon on. The Moose. <-- Dumb as sh*t animals. BE CAREFUL.

I am EXCITED you are looking to do this ride!! Be sure to pop in PIXs here if u don't mind.

Oh, and be sure to checkout the Interactive Map for ideas if u like in the sticky area here.

Man, you got me all kinds of excited again for LDRing. LOL

If u contact SCMA, the Pres is like a brother to me. BIG TIME!!! Pls say hi to "The GONZ" from me. He will be surprised and get a BIG kick outta it. LOVE that guy! We have a LOT of history together. Most of it good. LOLOL!!

I want to do a little more than just hitting the four corners. I want to ride to Nova Scotia and British Columbia. I really dont have any limits to where I can go.

You are killing me!!!!! NS and BC are 2 of my fav places............ok here you go.........

I can get u more info and certainly u need not do ANY of this..........but here are my FAV things to do........

Leaving Madawaska, you will be picking up I95. 95 ends going into New Brunswick in Houlton Maine. THERE in Houlton is Irving Gas Station a truck stop. I ALWAYS STOP there. GREAT food for a little $. next door is a no big deal Sky Motel or something like that. Decent laundry facilities. Be careful flushing their toilets. If u r sitting, the FLUSH is POWERFUL, a BLAST of air that practically fires u off the toilet. LOL!!!

In NS, there is the FAMOUST "Cabot Trail". Do NOT take the 1st left onto Cabot Trail. Take the NEXT LEFT. I can explain y if u like. Ingnoosh is supposed to have GREAT salmon.

In BC, the Sea to Sky Hwy to go up to Backcomb/Whistler Mtn is really NICE! Their rte 99 by Kam Loops is also nice. BUT BUT BUT like Harry Potter movie, with Diagon Alley, well my friend, you can stay right at the Olympic Village they have there and it is like the SAME THING as Diagon Alley. REALLY REALLY NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, you can't help but to have fun. I am very excited for you man. Yuppers, take ur time. It is a ride of a lifetime!

Sounds like a fantastic trip!
I'll be 65 next year, retired 4 years ago. My wife of 36 (I think) years has no problem with me leaving the house.. and encourages it..I think she's trying to tell me something..ha
I feel a Canadian adventure in the near future.

I've been to many of the Provinces in Canada but IMHO, NS and BC are the most scenic
You could easily at least spend a week (or more) in each, just doing the touristy things and sights, but keep in mind that you must leave your "hardware" at home and you will get "sticker shock" with the price of all goods and services,
My cousin and I went in 2019 and we covered a lot of territory in NB, NS, NL and PEI.
I went to NS back in '80 but I didn't have too much time and didn't get to do the Cabot Trail, which IMHO is one of, if not the prettiest scenery in NS, especially in the Highlands region.

I was lucky enough to retire at 59. If you can, I would not wait till 65. Go now and I think you will enjoy it more

Sounds like you are looking forward to a great trip.

While I don't have any ride suggestions - I do have one other. Having been married now for 42 years, I might suggest that you take your wife with you - and traveljust a few hours a day and relax. Nice dinner, hotel room, little sightseeing - those memories ae hard to come by
